The Genesis Project of Northern Colorado Vision Statement for Single Mothers’ Home of New Beginnings

November 2003

The Vision of The Genesis Project of Northern Colorado, a single mothers’ home of new beginnings, is to give unconditional love, to restore hope, and to build a future of new beginnings for young single mothers and their young children. As we reflect the Father’s love through this ministry, we pray that the Holy Spirit will draw each person into experiencing and building a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ.

God has laid the vision on the hearts of some of the members of the pro-life community in Weld County to investigate the possibility of founding a home with a maximum two year program designed to accomplish this vision in the lives of single moms willing to commit to the program.

This is to be accomplished, in part, by building the necessary support system to equip these single moms to attain the education, career, and life-skills training necessary for them to be able to support themselves and their children with dignity as valuable members of society, at the same time providing spiritual guidance and counseling to the families.

The vision includes providing a protective, healthy, and Godly environment to nurture the lives of the clients and their children like the new beginnings of young plants are nurtured in a greenhouse environment. The vision is to create a refuge in the country that would provide such an environment.

Included in the ministry would be the provision of opportunities for finishing a high school education with the attainment of a diploma or GED incorporating tutoring and home education techniques. Assistance in career training, further education, and job opportunities would be made available.

Also included would be teaching of life-skills, i.e. provide mentors (older women teaching younger women) to teach Godly motherhood, homemaking skills, household budgeting, and financial skills, and to prepare them for the possibility of a Godly husband. The ministry would also provide help, to those so desiring, to establish their own businesses, and would provide teaching of basic Bible beliefs.

The long-term vision of establishing such a facility as outlined above will be very involved and time consuming. In order to have a facility of excellence, we are determined to establish a firm foundation in all areas.

There is much to be done; however, the primary focus must be a viable ministry to offer support to the single mothers and their children now, not just in the future. At present, we are working to establish a non-residential ministry center to house our weekly support ministry meetings for both mothers and their children; to provide a place for one-on-one caregiving and classes; to build a resource library and to have referrals available; and to house two mothers and their children in a residential program.

This first step will allow The Genesis Project of Northern Colorado to minister to the single mothers and children in as many of the areas of support as possible while we continue to work to establish the residential facility in the country. This will also help to establish our credibility with the community as an organization that has a track record of viable ministry support to single mothers.

The following written policies are designed to guide this vision and to help attain the stated goals:

  1. Everything will be under submission to our God and Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ. This will be a ministry that will adhere to Scripture, but also a ministry that will unconditionally love each life committed to our care, offering hope to each family.
  2. The leadership of this ministry will be under submission to the appropriate authorities, and accountable to those they serve.
  3. Government or private funding that is given with conditions, restrictions, or regulations attached will not be pursued or accepted by this ministry.
